I was fascinated by the beautiful shapes and colours of this particular brown algae. It is found in rockpools and is found in clay, silt or sandy sediments. Young fronds are thin leafy and flat whilst older fronds are thicker and fan shaped and tend to curl inwards. The underside has small fine hairs and bands of olive green , pale and dark brown can be seen. The plants generally die back in winter and resprout again in spring.
